HISTORY

Founded in February of 2001 by Amanda Exley Lower, Duende Dance Theater, Inc. is a not for profit modern dance and theater company based in Atlanta, Ga. “Duende” is a Spanish word for “spirit”.  When a flamenco dancer performs with passion, clarity, and guts, the audience will praise them by shouting “Duende!”.  Duende Dance Theater, Inc. promotes public understanding and appreciation for the art form of dance in Georgia.  Through professional venues, classrooms, and community centers, Duende brings professional modern dance to the Atlanta community and beyond. 

Duende is proud to feature performers from the Atlanta area.  The performers range in age from 7 to 70.
